Course overview

Most business executives are faced with the daily challenge of making strategic decisions, specifically about innovation. Such critical decisions will give their organisation a competitive advantage over others. The Innovative Strategic Management course aims at equipping such decision makers with an understanding of the main issues in the management of technological innovation and an appreciation of the relevant skills needed to manage innovation; at both strategic and operational levels. It will give you a comprehension of why organisations innovate, why and how they compete on innovation, and what role innovation plays in shaping their strategic decisions. The course will also provide evidence of different approaches based on real-world examples and experiences of leading organisations with an international thrust.

Course objectives

  • Demonstrate understanding, and make critical assessments of the concepts of invention, design, research, technological development and innovation; and coming up with diagnosis and effective solutions of innovation challenges.
